Privacy Policy
Short version: your list stays in your browser unless you choose to create an account, and no account ever requires an email address. The longer version below covers what is stored where, and the third parties your browser contacts.
1. What we store, and where
By default AniLog has no login and stores nothing on any server. Everything the app
remembers is written to your own browser localStorage:
- Your list — titles, statuses, episode progress, scores, and notes.
- Preferences — sort order, view mode, filter state.
- A local catalogue cache — titles you have already viewed, so the site works when the metadata APIs are down.
- An ad frequency counter — a timestamp, if advertising is enabled.
Unless you create an account (below), none of this is transmitted to us. We cannot read it, back it up, or restore it.
2. Optional accounts
Creating an account is entirely optional — every feature works without one. If you do create one, we store on our server:
- Your chosen username.
- A cryptographic hash of your password (PBKDF2-SHA256, 210,000 iterations, with a random salt unique to you). We never store or see the password itself.
- A hash of your one-time recovery code, on the same basis.
- Your anime list — titles, statuses, progress, scores and notes — so it survives cleared browser data and follows you between devices.
We never ask for an email address, and we do not collect your name, phone number, or any other identifying detail. The consequence is that we cannot email you a password reset: your recovery code is the only route back into an account, and if you lose both it and your password the account cannot be recovered by anyone, including us.
Your session is held in a cookie marked HttpOnly, Secure and
SameSite=Lax. It is used solely to keep you signed in — not for tracking or
advertising. Account data is stored in Cloudflare Workers KV.
Deleting your account removes your username, password hash, recovery hash and stored list from our server permanently and immediately. Your local copy stays on your device until you clear it.
3. Third parties your browser contacts
AniLog runs entirely in your browser and calls these services directly. When it does, they receive your IP address and the request itself, under their own privacy policies:
- Jikan / MyAnimeList — series metadata, cover art, cast. MyAnimeList privacy policy.

- Cloudflare Pages — hosts and serves this site, and keeps standard access logs including IP addresses for security and abuse prevention. Cloudflare privacy policy.
4. Advertising
This site may display advertising supplied by Monetag and Adcash and their demand partners. Where advertising is active, those networks may set cookies or similar identifiers and collect device, browser, approximate location, and browsing data to select and measure ads. We do not share your list, notes, or scores with them — that data never leaves your browser.

Some ad units on this site check the browser Do Not Track signal and will not load if your browser sends it. Others load on every visit regardless. If you want to stop all of them, use a content blocker — the site remains fully functional without ads.
5. Analytics
We do not currently run any analytics or tracking scripts of our own. If that changes, this page will be updated before it takes effect.
6. Your choices and rights
- See your data: use Export on the My List page for a complete JSON copy.
- Delete your data: clear this site data in your browser settings. That erases everything, immediately and permanently.
- Block third parties: a content blocker will stop the ad and metadata requests. The app still works; covers and synopses may not load.
Because we hold no personal data on any server, requests under the GDPR or CCPA to access, correct, or erase your information are satisfied by the controls above. For anything else, get in touch.
7. Children
AniLog is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect information from them.
8. Changes
We may update this policy. Material changes will be reflected in the date at the foot of this page.
